Commission Process

So, you’ve made the decision, or are thinking about commissioning your next art piece through us! I would first like to thank you for that. It means a lot to us that you would consider such a thing. But what will you have to do for us? We can’t read your mind! If we could, we’d already have you art ready for you! Wouldn’t that be a perfect world? But there is a bit of work you have to do for us! So let’s get to it.

The T.O.S

1. Artists have the right to refuse your commission. Should this happen, you will be informed so that either we can renegotiate another artist, or, provide you with a full refund guaranteed.

2. All Commissions have a Maximum Time to Completion. This cannot be less than 2 weeks after payment is made, or more than 90 days. If Ikate Keda Studios fails to provide you with your commission by this date, you are entitled to a full refund. You have the right to delay this refund, if you feel so inclined. If you do accept the refund, you are not entitled to any of the Art WIP’s provided by the artist during the process.

3. You do not have the right to post picture WIP’s.

4. All payment is upfront. Artists are not paid until completion, so a refund is always possible.

5. Refunds will only be provided due to failure on Ikate Keda Studios behalf. We will not issue refunds out of convenience. Please make sure you are financially sound before you commission through our services.

6. How many revisions you receive on your commission will be discussed during price negotiations. As standard, you will receive 1 set of minor revisions on linework, and on color. Major revisions will be billed appropriate to the amount of work you are making the artist redraw. The Customer is not responsible to pay for major revisions caused by gross negligence to follow reference material. This can only be guaranteed with visual reference material. Text based references will apply on a case by case basis. Please ensure visual references so we can ensure your picture be completed as close to what you envision as possible.

7. Commercial rights can be negotiated. As standard, artists retain ownership of the work, and Ikate Keda Studios retains the right to post it. You have the right to post, with provided credits.

8. Art commissioned through Ikate Keda Studios will be accredited as: Art by (Artist Name). Commissioned through, Ikate Keda Studios.

9. If you commission this Studio, at no point should you Libel or Slander the Studio during or after commissioning without proper evidence to your claims

10. You will receive a watermarked JPG copy of your commission. If watermark location is undesirable, you are free to suggest a place you would rather it be, and we will try our best to comply. However, watermark must be visible on the picture, and hard to remove.

11. You agree to this ToS every time you use our services.

If you have any questions regarding this T.O.S, scroll to the bottom of the page, where we have explained each clause as best we can.

The Process

We at Ikate Keda Studios, are all about streamlining the process of commissioning art. We want it to be simple, and as much as we like and appreciate you all, if we are talking to you a lot about your picture, we are failing at our job. Feel free to say hi though!

The first thing people have a hard time getting used to is the fact that you’re not talking to your artist. The person you work with is not your artist, and this keeps the price of art down. This means that the only thing the artist has to worry about is drawing the picture. Navigating what you want, how much you want to pay, and general customer service is handled by the studio. Don’t worry though, we are just as capable at solving any issues or requests as the artist is, and we make sure we are thorough in getting exactly what you want. You don’t pay for our mistakes after all!

Then, it’s a cake walk. You pay, the artist is informed and they get to work on your commission. You will receive a minimum of 2 WIP’s, one on the lines, and one on colour. Remember, you have a limited amount of revisions, we will inform you when we need your input before carrying on with the picture, that is the best time to use your revisions. Once we pass a revision point, and you have approved the work, you cannot get that stage of the picture revised. Make sure you triple check when we ask you for any revisions.

That’s it! See? Not that different is it? We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Understanding the T.O.S

Our T.O.S is simple to follow and to understand. We don’t like to over complicate things, so our T.O.S is a what you see is what you get deal. We don’t have any loopholes, or complex legal jargon. We don’t want a 20+ page document that you ignore and just click “I accept” too and move on! That just ain’t us! So here is our entire T.O.S with what each point means.

1. Each Artist retains the right to refuse work. Should this happen, you will be contacted immediately so that we can re-negotiate your artist, or, provide you a full refund guaranteed.
   – We don’t make artists draw, simple as that. Unfortunately, once the artist put’s the pin in the picture, there is nothing we can really do to convince them otherwise.

   – We don’t want you, the customer, waiting around forever for your picture. We will not put you in a position where you could possibly fall out of love with your art and we will have it too you as soon as possible. If we do not meet the agreed time, you get a refund! All your money back, no questions asked. However, if you accept the refund, you revoke all rights to the picture. You cannot post or use any WIP’s provided to you for the commission in question. You can extend the deadline if you want, but you cannot waive the deadline completely. We just hope it never comes to that. You will generally be informed well beforehand if an extension is required and why. As for this deadline, it will not apply if us not meeting it is due to you not providing us information we need to continue the picture. If we send a WIP for approval, and we get nothing from you until the deadline, you will not get that refund.

3. You do not have the right to post picture WIP’s.
   – Pretty simple. You do not inherently have the right to post the WIP’s of the pictures. This is to avoid issues should a refund need to be issued.

4. All payment is upfront. Artists are not paid until completion, so a refund is always possible.
   – This is pretty simple. You paying for your commission, and the Artist getting paid directly for their work does not happen at the same time, so your funds are always available should we fail to meet our deadline.

5. Refunds will only be provided due to failure on Ikate Keda Studios behalf to meet the assigned deadline. We will not issue refunds out of convenience, or for lack of satisfaction in product. Please make sure you are financially sound before you commission through our services, and to communicate with the one handling your commission
   – This is pretty simple. We will only provide a refund if we fail at providing your art at the prescribed time. Art takes time, and time is money. We provide ample opportunity to correct any mistakes, and our policy is “If it isn’t in the Reference Package, it isn’t in the picture.” We’re sure we won’t have a problem though!

   – You don’t pay for our mistakes. If we missed something in the reference package and you point it out too us at the right time, then we will fix it no questions asked. If you suddenly want a totally different pose, however, you will have to pay for the time spent on the initial picture. When we send a WIP for revision, please take your time in reviewing it and mention any problems, as we will not go back to previous stages of the picture after they have been approved. This means if you approve the lineart, the lineart is locked in. Some situations excepted, your agent will tell you when those situations come up.

7. Commercial rights can be negotiated. You have the right to post, with provided credits.
   – When you get a commission through us, you do not own the picture. You, the studio, and the Artist are the only ones who have the right to post the picture. Multi-Character pictures are an exception, anyone who owns a character in the picture can post it as well. You cannot profit off the picture. You cannot claim it as your own. Simple right?

8. Art commissioned through Ikate Keda Studios will be accredited as: Art by (Artist Name). Commissioned through, Ikate Keda Studios.
– When you post the picture, this is what you put in the description.

9. If you commission this Studio, at no point should you Libel or Slander the Studio during or after commissioning without proper evidence to your claims
   – Don’t lie. If we have done something you think other people should be aware of, by all means, but provide evidence with context to support it. We want to be held liable for what we do, but if you take a single message entirely out of context and write a claim about it slanting it in a negative light, that is still lying. Both of these are illegal. Don’t make us get the Cyrodiil Guards!

10. You will receive a watermarked JPG copy of your commission. If watermark location is undesirable, you are free to suggest a place you would rather it be, and we will try our best to comply. However, watermark must be visible on the picture, and hard to remove.
   – We only provide a watermarked JPEG of your picture unless otherwise negotiated. If you don’t like where the Watermark is placed, then you can tell us, and give a suggestion to where you would rather it. It must be present, and while we never obnoxiously watermark our pictures intentionally, it must be somewhere hard to remove.

11. You agree to this ToS every time you use our services.
   – If you send us money for a commission, you are agreeing to this T.O.S. It only really applies if you commission us, but we don’t want anyone telling us they didn’t agree to it you know? Would cause a headache!

That is our T.O.S explained! We hope this answered any questions you might have regarding it, but if it didn’t please do not hesitate to contact us on Discord to ask an Agent. Thank you for reading!
